17A-04 Radiation Signature
Test Number | T04 |
Test Name | Radiation Signature |
Test Leader | Christian Agerer |
Suit | Aouda.X |
Date | 04. Jan. 2017 |
In today’s RF environment it is imperative that modern day devices and especially space suits are
meeting the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) Standards. It basically states that products must
not emit unwanted electromagnetic pollution (interference) and, because there is a certain amount
of electromagnetic pollution in the environment, that products must be immune to a reasonable
amount of interference. The Directive itself gives no figures or guidelines on what the required level
of emissions or immunity are, nor does it state the frequency band limits. This interpretation of the
Directive’s requirements is left to the standards that are used to demonstrate compliance with de
Directive. For the Aouda Suit it is not entirely clear which EN Standards apply and further research
has to be done.
Subtest 1: Radiated, radio-frequency, electromagnetic field immunity test; reaction of device under
test should be: a normal performance within the specification limits.
Subtest 2: Electrostatic Discharge Immunity Test; reaction of device under test should be: a normal
performance within the specification limits.
Subtest 3: Human exposure to radio frequency fields
